After thoroughly studying the pros and cons of foreign-made products, as well as the specifics of their application, a vision was developed for a modern, effective, and, most importantly, universal hemostatic agent for extreme and military medicine. Much attention was paid to the ease of use of the hemostatic agent in various extreme climatic conditions.
Through close contact with tactical medicine instructors, the most important requests of military medics were taken into account: “Ensure the effectiveness of granules on par with the best Z-bandages while significantly simplifying their application.” Considering that in modern combat situations, a wounded soldier must wait up to two days for evacuation, this was also important.
As a result, large granules of varying sizes were created. Kaolin-based granules can confidently be classified as a new class of hemostatic agents, as this form factor had not previously been used.

Granules offer a number of significant advantages over traditional bleeding control methods, such as tourniquets and hemostatic powder. Firstly, their use ensures a more precise and uniform distribution of active ingredients, promoting effective and rapid blood coagulation. Secondly, granules are significantly easier to use; they simply need to be applied to the wound site, minimizing the time needed to provide first aid.

KEY ADVANTAGES
– Simplicity. They can be used independently without medical assistance; simply apply to the wound, minimizing the time required for first aid. Unlike packing, which can only be performed by an experienced medic, the granules can be self-applied without aid.
– Can remain in the wound for up to 48 hours. This provides time for transportation, further examination, and decision-making. Experience has shown that in modern combat situations, a wounded soldier may have to wait for evacuation for up to 2 days. The granules are less likely to cause tissue damage during application, which reduces the risk of complications. In contrast to a tourniquet, which can cause nerve or vessel damage with prolonged use, the granules help maintain tissue viability. Due to the excessive use of tourniquets (if a tourniquet remains applied for more than 2 hours, amputation of the limb may occur) and lack of effective hemostatic agents, a significant number of amputations are performed, leading to the disability of soldiers and prolonged return to civilian life.
– Compared to hemostatic powders (which often use chitosan as the active ingredient), the granules do not cause allergic reactions and reduce the likelihood of chemical reactions, making them safer for the patient. Experience has shown that in modern combat situations, as well as extreme circumstances, the powder form has proven to be ineffective as a means of self-aid or mutual aid due to its narrow application range and unsuitability for stopping bleeding in deep wound channels and when major vessels are damaged. Powder creates a film on the wound surface, giving a false impression of bleeding cessation. There is a high risk of re-bleeding. The powder can be washed away by blood flow.
– Rapid hemostasis. They ensure a more precise and even distribution of active substances, which contributes to effective and quick blood coagulation.
– Works locally. Does not cause imbalance in systemic hemostasis.
– Convenient to use the hemostatic agent in various extreme climatic conditions. Retains its properties at temperatures from -50 to +50°C.
– Effective without tourniquet application. Prevents ischemic and reperfusion complications.
– Functions where it is impossible to apply a tourniquet — in neck injuries, armpit area, pelvis (groin, buttocks), and proximal segments of limbs.
– Suitable for deep wounds. Penetrates deeply, is not washed away, and forms a stable clot at the source of bleeding.
– Removed entirely. After activation, it does not adhere to tissues and can be extracted as a single conglomerate.
– The granules represent an effective and safe solution for stopping bleeding, combining ease of use with high efficiency.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTION
A distinctive feature of the hemostatic agents produced by our company is their unique composition, which includes a combination of highly effective components that promote rapid cessation of bleeding from wounds of any configuration and form a strong clot, thereby preventing rebleeding. The final products based on this composition are available in various forms such as granules and dressings impregnated with the composition.
The company’s products significantly outperform existing analogs in quality characteristics, substantially reducing the duration of bleeding and minimizing blood loss. They effectively cover wounds of varying depths and shapes, possess biological inertness, and do not affect the organism.
Our products are as good as (and in some respects surpass) those of our competitors from the USA and the EU. At the same time, the cost of our products is several times lower.
The composition works with equal efficiency in the process of primary and secondary hemostasis. The components of the composition enhance and complement each other’s action, creating a synergetic effect. No. Our products are Class III CE Marked Medical Devices and approved by BSI.
Yes, if applied to the bleeding vessel Kaolin Granules can stop life-threatening bleeding from a severed artery. This has been demonstrated independently in laboratory testing and evidenced in actual battlefield use.
Yes, Kaolin Granules have been tested and proven to clot blood containing heparin and Coumadin (generic name warfarin).
Yes, it will stop bleeding in cold conditions. Kaolin Granules have been tested and proven to clot blood as cool as 35° С.
Yes, they can be removed entirely. Upon activation, the granules fill the wound cavity and form a single cohesive clot. The material does not adhere to tissues or absorb into them. After use, the coagulum can be easily removed in one piece through mechanical means.
In cases of emergency bleeding, Granules should be left in the wound to stop bleeding until the patient is seen by medical personnel. Remove as much of the clot as possible by hand, then irrigate the wound with water or saline. In cases of minor bleeding Granules can be removed once the wound has stabilized. This can be as short as 10 minutes. Irrigate with water or saline.
No. Kaolin Granules have been tested to show that wound healing continues normally after its use.
No. Our Kaolin Granules have been tested and shown not to generate any increase in heat during blood clotting.
Please refer to specific product instructions before use.
If eye irritation occurs, flush with water for five minutes.
No. Our kaolin-based granules do not cause allergic reactions.
Do not eat. Kaolin Granules are non-toxic but not recommended for consumption. Granules absorbs moisture when in contact with fluid and can absorb moisture from the gut which may cause discomfort. If ingested, drink water to avoid any discomfort.

Hemostatic Tourniquets Disadvantages:
- ischemia of the limb segment distal to the applied tourniquet;
- limited time of use (1-2 hours);
- difficulty in use and low efficiency in case of injuries to the neck, axillary region, pelvis (groin, buttocks) and proximal segments of the limbs.
Hemostatic Granuls or Gauze should be stored in dry conditions at ambient temperature and no special storage conditions are required or indicated on the product labelling. Stability studies this type of products stored at temperatures of -50°C and +50°C and freeze-thaw studies have been completed with no detrimental results to product or packaging reported. Discard any remaining product after use as sterility will be compromised. Reuse potentially poses a risk of infection.
All our products are provided sterile for single use. Kaolin Granules can be used to treat several wounds on one casualty.
Do not store unused opened packs of all our products for later use. Products sterility and performance may be affected.
Wounds to the chest or abdomen are generally classed as non-compressible. Most guidelines e.g. TCCC say do not use haemostatics on non-compressible wounds. Refer to your clinical guidelines and or training. In an extreme situation this requires clinical judgement. Use of Kaolin Granules or Gauze on this part of the body is not contraindicated. For penetrating chest injuries, the recommended treatment to prevent tension pneumothorax is to use an occlusive seal.
Von Willebrand disease is a genetic disorder caused by missing or defective Von Willebrand Factor (VWF) a clotting protein. VWF binds factor VIII, a key clotting protein, and platelets in blood vessel walls, which help form a platelet plug during the clotting process.
Kaolin Granules work by purely physically means and do not rely on the body’s own blood clotting mechanisms. While we do not have testing on patients with Haemophilia, our product has been tested on blood containing Warfarin and Heparin as well as being tested on hypothermic blood. In all of these cases Kaolin Granules continued to work as well as on normal blood.
Case reports have shown our kaolin granules have been left in place for 48 hours where there was no re-bleed or leakage. We recommend leaving coagulum in place until the patient is moved to definitive care.
